Candidates applying for the UPSC Combined Defence Services (CDS) II 2025 must meet the following educational and age requirements based on the academy they are applying to:
1. Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in any stream from a recognized university
- Age Limit: 20 to 24 years as on 01 July 2025
- Gender/Marital Status: Unmarried male candidates only
2. Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from a recognized university/institute
- Age Limit: 20 to 24 years as on 01 July 2025
- Gender/Marital Status: Unmarried male candidates only
3. Air Force Academy (AFA), Hyderabad
- Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in any stream
- Must have studied Physics and Mathematics in 10+2 (Intermediate)
- Age Limit: 20 to 24 years as on 01 July 2025
- Gender/Marital Status: Unmarried male candidates only
4. Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai (Men & Women)
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in any stream from a recognized university
- Age Limit: 20 to 24 years as on 01 July 2025
- Gender/Marital Status:
- For Men: Unmarried male candidates only
- For Women: Unmarried females, widows who have not remarried, or divorcees (who have not remarried and possess divorce documents)
⚠️ Important Notes:
- Final year students can also apply, but they must provide proof of passing at the time of the SSB interview.
- Candidates must be physically fit as per the guidelines provided in the official notification.
- Nationality: Must be an Indian citizen or meet other criteria as per UPSC rules.

The selection process for the Combined Defence Services (CDS) II 2025 exam consists of the following stages:
📝 1. Written Examination
➤ For IMA, INA, and AFA:
The written exam includes three papers, each of 100 marks:

✈️ 2. SSB Interview / Personality Test
Candidates who qualify in the written exam are called for the SSB Interview, which is conducted in two stages:

- Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) Test
- Picture Perception and Discussion Test (PP&DT)
- Candidates who fail Stage I are screened out
➤ Stage II:
- Psychological Tests
- Group Testing Officer Tasks (GTO)
- Personal Interview
- Conference
Total Marks:
- IMA, INA, AFA: 300 Marks
- OTA: 200 Marks
🧾 3. Document Verification
- Candidates must present original documents (educational certificates, ID proof, etc.) during SSB or after final selection.
🏥 4. Medical Examination
- Candidates recommended by the SSB undergo a medical fitness test at designated military hospitals.
📜 5. Final Merit List
- Based on performance in the written exam and SSB interview (medical is qualifying only)
- Final merit is published separately for IMA, INA, AFA & OTA
