⚙️ Selection Process

  1. 🔍 DRDO RAC Scientist B 2025 – Selection Process (Step-by-Step Full Details)
The selection process for the Scientist B post under DRDO – Recruitment & Assessment Centre (RAC) consists of multiple stages. It is designed to ensure that only the most qualified, technically sound, and suitable candidates are selected to work with one of India’s most prestigious defense organizations.

✅ Step 1: Shortlisting Based on GATE Score
    What it means:
Candidates who have applied will first be screened based on their valid GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) score in the relevant engineering discipline.
    How it works:
DRDO will prepare a shortlist based on the normalized GATE marks and academic performance (if required). There is no separate written test at this stage — GATE is used as the initial filter.
    Note:
You must have a valid GATE scorecard in one of the prescribed disciplines (as per notification). Without GATE, your application won’t be considered.

✅ Step 2: Descriptive Type Written Exam (If Applicable)
In some cases (depending on the number of applicants), DRDO may conduct a written test even after GATE shortlisting.
The written test is offline (pen and paper-based) and includes:
    Paper 1: 300 Marks (Descriptive)
    Paper 2: 300 Marks (Descriptive)
Total Duration: 6 Hours (3 hours each paper)
⚠️ Note: In recent recruitments, DRDO has often skipped this step for top GATE scorers and moved straight to interviews.

    ✅ Step 3: Personal Interview
    Who is called:
Only shortlisted candidates (based on GATE + optional written test, if conducted) are called for an in-depth personal interview.
    Interview Pattern:
Conducted by a panel of DRDO scientists and officials.
Focus on technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, communication, and aptitude for research and defense technology.
Questions may come from your GATE subject, final year project, core concepts, and real-world engineering problems.
    Weightage (as per past patterns):
    GATE Score: 80%
    Interview: 20%
This may vary depending on final recruitment rules mentioned in the official notification.

    ✅ Step 4: Document Verification
After the interview, selected candidates are called for document verification. You must carry original copies and self-attested photocopies of the following:
Educational Certificates (10th, 12th, Graduation, GATE Scorecard)
    Caste Certificate (for SC/ST/OBC)
    EWS Certificate (if applicable)
    Aadhaar / Govt-issued ID
    Income Certificate (for EWS)
    Domicile Certificate (if required)
    Disability Certificate (for PH candidates)
    Passport-size photographs
    Signature proof
Any other supporting documents as per the application
❗ Failing to provide valid or correct documents can lead to cancellation of your candidature.

✅ Step 5: Medical Fitness Test
Finally, selected candidates must undergo a medical examination to ensure they meet the physical and medical standards required for service in DRDO.
Conducted at authorized medical centers or DRDO-nominated hospitals.
    Basic tests include:
    Vision check
    Hearing and speech
    General health and physical condition
No chronic illness or disqualification as per defense service norms
Medical unfitness can lead to disqualification, so candidates should be in good health.
